Women of Aviation Worldwide Week                flyingonline.biz logo                   iWoAW approved organization seal of approval

On Sunday 9th March, 2014 we participated in the Women of Aviation Worldwide Week for 2014.

This was the first time Australia was represented and had participated in this event thanks to Tammy Augostin (Bathurst, NSW) who put up her hand to be our Australian Team Leader. Australia successfully hosted 9 officially registered events across 5 states. Our event in Strathalbyn was the only one registered to represent South Australia.

In the Fly It Forward 2014 challenge, 26,000+ attended and 5,703 took flight for the first time, worldwide. In Australia this equated to 427 women and girls of all ages, who took to the sky’s flying in a small aircraft during the initiative and throughout the international week long celebrations. Australia is now ranked 2nd in the world as the most female friendly country!

This amazing national success was topped with a very deserving International WOAW Trophy Award going to our very own Diana Jemson, who received 1st Runner up for the ‘Most Dedicated Female Pilot Worldwide’ (just behind USA and in front of Canada) for her efforts throughout the WOAW Strathalbyn South Australian event. Congratulations also to John Modistach (pilot) and Tony Richardson (ground crew) who won random prize draws for their participation in our WoAW event.

Our wonderful ground crew     More of our wonderful ground crew

Our ground crew enjoyed themselves so much, once the event was over and post-briefing complete, they kept asking, "so are we doing it all again next year?"  They were excited that so many ladies had taken advantage of and enjoyed the opportunity to 'get high in the sky'.
